The Macro Benefits of going Nano in Packaging

There are several boxes to check when we create packaging for FMCG products. Product safety, customer convenience, marketing and branding, easy product information, waste management are some important drivers along with logistics and supply chain management. This is especially true for bulk produced goods like powdered based goods like flour (Atta), cement, detergents among others along with staples and nuts.

Stacking, man-handling and transportation give ample opportunity for the most superior quality of packaging to give way leading to contamination and wastage. But, we at the Montage Group have spearheaded innovation in technology to create stronger packaging for FMCG goods that are literally tear-proof through our Nano-Perforation Flexible Packaging.

Also called Micro-perforation this technology has been introduced by us for the very first time in Atta packaging for our celebrated clients. We infuse small microscopic holes in the outer packaging, which facilitates gas permeation to maintain the rate of respiration of food products and improves overall product attributes. It also ensures that there is no infestation of mites and other micro-organisms an otherwise common problem in the industry.

Most of our packaging competitors release air through traditional and obsolete techniques of making mechanical needle holes during the filling of powdered products, which is not controlled in size and may cause tearing and contamination. The nano perforation technology mastered at the Montage Group guarantees consistent round holes of an optimized size and anti-skid properties to each packet that helps easy stack-ability on each other without slippage. Further, it serves as an ideal solution to preserve and protect products during situations of delayed transport. This is especially true for the lockdown during the pandemic faced by the whole country this year. We witnessed a soaring demand for micro-perforated packaging materials in the form of films and laminates from a wide network of FMCG clients.

Presently, we are using this advanced technology to package high volume SKU products like detergent powders, atta, salt, pulses, cement, paint & wall putty to name a few and have received rave reviews for it. We have successfully extended shelf life and moisture retention of the food products without compromising on important parameters like drop test sustainability and non-perforated top and bottom sealing area to maintain the seal integrity of the pouch.

Globally as per a study conducted in 2018, the micro-perforated food packaging market shows an anticipated growth at a CAGR of 4.01% during the forecast period of 2019-2027 and the key factors responsible for the market advancement are steady growth of vegetarianism, ability to enhance shelf-life of products, reduction in food waste and downsizing of packaging. As common knowledge, we at Montage Group thrive on technological developments and R&D. We are committed to deliver our best and to exceed the expectations of our client and the use of this cutting-edge nano-perforation technology has been another feather in our cap to promote preservation and protection of perishable products.
